Dough Pizzeria Napoletana has opened in downtown San Antonio at 518 South Alamo Street at the intersection of Alamo and Cesar Chavez!  Dough is located in the historic "OK Bar" and the historic charm of the building has been preserved yet modernized with elements of copper, wood and marble.  There are three seating areas: the main dining room (which includes a pizza/wine/beer bar), the atrium area with beautiful views of Hemisfair Park and the outdoor patio in the park.

SAN ANTONIO, TX (April 2018)Dough Pizzeria Napoletana, the restaurant known for its authentic Neapolitan style pizza concept, is excited to join Hemisfair in announcing a new opening set for May 2018.  The debut of Dough’s second location in San Antonio will add further grandeur to the vibrant and redeveloping urban district in downtown. Dough will be located on the corner of South Alamo Street and East César E. Chávez Boulevard at the southwest corner of Hemisfair. Owners Doug and Lori Horn anticipate the renowned restaurant becoming a neighborhood spot for locals, a checklist destination for downtown tourists and convention attendees, a relaxing place in the park, and a jumping off point for exploring Southtown.

Inspired by the traditions of Italian ingredients, Executive Chef and Co-Owner Doug Horn, with his wife, Co-Owner Lori Horn, have developed the only pizzeria in San Antonio—and a rare find in Texas—certified to serve under the guidelines created by Associazione Pizzaiuoli Napoletani(Neapolitan Pizzaioli Association) founded in Naples, Italy.  All ingredients are sourced as much as possible from Italy as well as from local farmers.  A true Neapolitan-style pizza is easy to distinguish: charred crust, sparse toppings, and a raised border.

“We’re thrilled to bring Dough downtown and join all the exciting developments throughout Hemisfair,” said Chef Horn, co-owner of Dough.

“Dough is a unique concept,” said Lori Horn, co-owner of Dough. “We are a full-service restaurant with trained chefs; we provide high levels of service and source top quality products, all while keeping up with the pace of a high volume pizzeria.”

Menu pizza options range from Arugula & Prosciutto, blending house-made mozzarella with truffle vinaigrette, to Pork Love, made with house-made spicy sausage, Speck, Soppressata Salami, Pancetta, house-made mozzarella and tomato sauce. Aside from traditional pizza, guests can expect house-made burrata, meatballs, antipasti, Tuscan and Italian salads, and, of course, Italian-inspired desserts. Dough Pizzeria Napoletana also reflects Italy with its extensive wine menu featuring carefully selected and imported vino from Southern Italy.  The drink menu includes a range of Italian sodas and local craft beers on tap, as well as Kimbo espresso.

The interior of the restaurant has elements of wood, marble, and copper.  The wood-burning oven named “Scintilla,” which is the Italian word for ‘spark’ and plays off the name of the owners’ English bulldog, ‘Sparcs,’ is uniquely tiled entirely with copper pennies.  The restaurant consists of three dining areas, including a pizza bar/dining room, the atrium dining room with sliding doors that will offer a semi-private dining area, and an outdoor patio overlooking the park. 

This marks the third restaurant opening by Dough Pizza Napoletana. Dough’s success stems from the original San Antonio location on Blanco Road which Doug and Lori opened in 2007.  There is another location in Plano, TX, which opened in 2012.

“When it comes to quality pizza, Dough is a household name in San Antonio,” said Andres Andujar, CEO of Hemisfair. “With Dough joining the other tenants at Hemisfair – Paleteria San Antonio, Con Safos, and CommonWealth – we’re creating a suite of authentic and exciting food and beverage options for park-goers, there’s nothing better than pizza.”

Dough Pizzeria Napoletana will be located at 518 South Alamo Street, San Antonio, TX 78205, directly behind the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, on the parameter of Hemisfair, neighboring Paleteria San Antonio, Con Safos and CommonWealth Coffee & Bakery. Dough is in between downtown and Southtown, making it a walkable dining choice whether visiting Yanaguana Garden or popping in after an outdoors activity, such as a bike ride or run. Like other businesses at Hemisfair, Dough will operate out of a restored historic property, in this instance an icehouse once called the O.K. Bar, serendipitously matching Dough’s branding which has always included the “O.K.” symbol. There will be a neon “O.K.” hand symbol sign outside the restaurant, as well as an “O.K.” symbol mural located near the entranceway, as a way to pay homage to the historic building’s name.

ABOUT HEMISFAIR

HPARC was created by City Council in 2009 and tasked by City leadership with redeveloping the former site of the 1968 World’s Fair in San Antonio, Texas. HPARC is dedicated to the transformation of Hemisfair into an urban district with residences, local businesses and multiple parks. The parks will be sustainable, self-funded and filled with events authentic to San Antonio, while providing a vibrant gathering place for everything from a day with friends to the city’s biggest celebrations. DOUGH PIZZERIA NAPOLETANA SAN ANTONIO’S WINE DINNER-12/12/2016-FEATURING THE WINES OF ABRUZZO, ITALY

Abruzzo is a region on the east (Adriatic) coast of central Italy, situated halfway up the "boot."  Its immediate neighbors are Marche to the north, Lazio to the west and southwest and Molise to the southeast.  Winemaking traditions in Abruzzo date back to the sixth century B.C. thanks to the Etruscans, who played a major role in introducing viniculture to the area. At that time Abruzzo’s vineyards were generally focused around the Peligna valley in the province of L’Aquila. However, there is evidence that vine growing goes back as far as the fourth century B.C., when a sweet, Moscato-style grape called Apianae was grown. It is also believed that when Hannibal made his epic journey over the Alps, his soldiers were given Abruzzo wine from Teramo (historically known as Pretuzi).

Abruzzo has a rich culinary tradition, with various traditions attached to each province.  Our Chefs have drawn inspiration from both the coastal and mountain areas and paired the food that will be served with wines made famous by this region.

Dough Pizzeria Napoletana's expansion is complete! We have taken over the space next door and added 40+ seats, added two new Pizza Ovens, expanded the cheese and pizza-making line and added an all-Italian wine/espresso bar, complete with a classic manual-lever Espresso machine!  We expanded the restaurant to reduce the amount of wait time (especially on the weekends) and to create an area where our guests can relax and enjoy their wine, beer, house-made Italian sodas, espresso and a bite to eat.

Dallas, TX – (February 28, 2013) DOUGH Pizzeria Napoletana, a popular local pizzeria, was recently voted the 2013 Favorite Pizza Place in the Dallas-Fort Worth area by The Dallas Morning News readers.

After competing against 25 local restaurants, DOUGH-Dallas received 52% of the public vote in a close final round match-up against Cadillac Pizza Pub, earning them the title of Dallas-Forth Worth’s Favorite Pizza Place.


“It’s an honor that the people of Dallas-Forth Worth recognized us and supported us throughout the contest.  There were some great pizzerias involved in this friendly competition.  We strive everyday to live up to our guests’ expectations and provide the best quality and service, and we appreciate everyone’s support during the contest,” said Brad Liles, co-owner of DOUGH Dallas.
